Difficulty

Easy colorwork

Read from the bottom row upward. One square equals one single crochet stitch.

Written instructions

  1. Chain 26. Work one single crochet into the second chain from the hook and across: 25 stitches.
  2. Chain 1 and turn at the end of every row. Work 25 rows, following the chart from the bottom row to the top row.
  3. Each square is one stitch. Carry the unused yarn inside the stitches where practical, or drop and pick up the color for a cleaner back.
  4. Change color during the final yarn-over of the stitch before the new color begins. This keeps the color boundary aligned with the chart.
  5. Fasten off, weave in ends, and lightly block the panel if you want a sharper heart shape.

Sizing and repeats

Finished size depends on your gauge. At 16 single crochets per 10 cm, this chart is about 15.6 cm wide. Measure your swatch and use the same stitch count to predict the final size before making a larger panel.

To repeat the motif in a blanket, leave one background-color stitch between hearts horizontally and one full background row vertically. For a larger heart, scale the chart in the free ArtPatt crochet pattern generator using any image or drawing.
