Most crochet makers use $10–25/hr depending on skill, market, and location. $15/hr is a common starting point. In the Philippines and other lower-cost markets, $5–10/hr may be more appropriate for local sales. For Etsy with an international buyer base, $12–20/hr is typical for experienced makers.

Because the platform takes its cut from your final sale price, not from a separate amount. If you want to net $40 and Etsy takes 9.5%, you need to charge $40 ÷ (1 − 0.095) = $44.20, not $40 + ($40 × 0.095) = $43.80. The difference seems small but compounds across dozens of listings.

You can, but the calculator shows you don't have to. Without Etsy's fees, your craft fair price can be slightly lower and still generate the same net profit — or you can keep it the same and earn a better margin in-person. Most sellers keep prices consistent across channels for simplicity.

Wholesale is typically 50% of your retail price — the standard margin that lets retail shops mark up your items to their customers. If your retail price is $60, wholesale is $30. Your costs (materials + labor + overhead) must fit comfortably within that $30 for wholesale to be viable.

Use the same formula. Track the material cost (yarn + stuffing + safety eyes + labels), time to make, and your hourly rate. Amigurumi often take 4–10 hours depending on complexity — at $15/hr that's $60–150 in labor alone before materials. This is why quality amigurumi retail for $40–120+.

Because it's correct. Many makers significantly underprice their work by ignoring labor and overhead. If the suggested price feels too high for your market, the options are: reduce hours (faster techniques, simpler designs), lower your hourly rate target, reduce material cost (different yarn), or accept a lower profit margin. Don't reduce the price by removing labor from the formula.
